In this challenge we achieve the admin session cookie using XSS Injection. Then, in the admin.php endpoint we exploit RFI to achieve RCE and get shell as www-data.
Next step is to bruteforce the hash of rgiskard obtained from the mysql db, and login via ssh to user rgiskard.
We can exploit sudo on curl with * to get arbitrary file write as user dolivaw and put our ssh key, to get ssh as dolivaw.
Last step is to exploit the sudo as root on apache2, and get arbitrary file read, to read the root flag.
The cool thing in this challenge is that we starts from XSS and move to full compromise of the machine, nice :D

Okay, let’s try to get XSS Injection, since it also says it being sent to the admin.
We’ll register the user <script>alert()</script>, and try to login with this username:

We got our XSS, now, let’s send some payload to get the admin cookies:

Unfurtnally it isn’t working, because the cookie is set as HttpOnly, it means the javascript can’t access it.

Okay, lucikly we got the endpoint http://robots.thm/harm/to/self/server_info.php, which prints the phpinfo():

As you can notice, it also prints the admin cookies, so we can obtain the admin cookie using this username:

Okay, let’s get some privilege escalation using sudo on apache2.
I only want to sleep, and also get the root flag.
So, I put inside apache2.conf this one line:

and then executed:
